Financial Performance and Operating Leverage
Vintage Coffee and Beverages reported a strong start to the financial year, with revenue standing at 161 crore despite Q1 typically being a seasonal lean period for the instant coffee industry. Profitability metrics saw a sharp rise as EBITDA outpaced revenue growth, rising 75.2% to 31.6 crore. This improvement reflects the benefits of recent capacity expansions that reached full operational status this quarter.
The company maintained a healthy PAT margin of 12.9%, delivering a net profit of 20.8 crore. Management noted that the cost-plus-margin model continues to shield the company from volatility in global green coffee prices.
Strategic Expansion into Premium Segments
The company is executing a major transition toward high-value freeze-dried coffee (FDC). A new 5,500 MT expansion is underway in Telangana, which will take the total FDC capacity to 16,500 MT per annum by June 2026. This move is expected to structurally enhance EBITDA margins to the 22-24% range.
Management confirmed they have already secured volume commitments for approximately 70-80% of this new capacity through LOIs with international clients. The capital expenditure for this project is estimated at 550 crore, primarily funded through internal accruals and disciplined capital allocation.
Business Overview and Amalgamation
Vintage Coffee operates in the commodity trading and distribution sector, focusing on the manufacturing of instant coffee, including spray-dried, agglomerated, and freeze-dried variants. The company has a significant export footprint across West Africa, Russia, the CIS region, and Southeast Asia. A major recent milestone was the NCLT-approved merger of subsidiaries Vintage Coffee Pvt Ltd and Delecto Foods into the parent entity.
This consolidation is designed to optimize manufacturing facilities, streamline human resources, and reduce administrative costs, creating a single corporate identity for all stakeholders.
Sector Dynamics and Macro Environment
The global coffee market is currently witnessing relative price stability, with green coffee prices hovering between $3,500 and $3,800 per metric ton. While Brazil is expecting a healthy crop, weather-related risks like the El Nino effect remain under observation. On the logistics front, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East led to modest increases in transit times and fuel costs for LPG and diesel.
However, management stated that the overall impact on business remains negligible as their direct exposure to the Middle Eastern market is limited compared to other key growth regions like Southeast Asia.
