What Is the Order?
Sterlite Technologies Limited has secured a significant Product Award Letter from a global hyperscale partner for the supply of optical connectivity products. The contract is valued at roughly USD 1.11 billion, which converts to approximately ₹10,656 Crore based on current estimates. The agreement involves a multi-year supply commitment starting from Financial Year 2027 and continuing until March 2029.
Under the terms, purchase orders will be released periodically throughout the contract period. Notably, the agreement includes a reciprocal risk-sharing framework that defines capped financial liabilities for both parties in the event of supply capacity shortages or sudden demand shortfalls.
Business Impact
This mega-order significantly bolsters Sterlite Technologies' revenue visibility and strengthens its position in the global AI infrastructure supply chain. By providing the connectivity backbone for AI-ready data centers in the US, STL leverages its specialized Neuralis portfolio designed for high-density fiber requirements. The project supports the massive fiber counts necessitated by GPU clusters, utilizing products like the Celesta IBR cable series which features up to 6,912 fibers.
This partnership not only secures a large-scale international revenue stream but also validates the company's vertically integrated 'glass to data center' capabilities in a highly competitive global market.

Industry Landscape
The global telecommunications equipment sector is currently driven by a massive transition toward AI-ready infrastructure. Hyperscalers are investing billions to build data centers capable of handling generative AI workloads, which require significantly higher fiber density and interconnect speeds compared to traditional cloud facilities. This trend serves as a powerful tailwind for integrated manufacturers who can provide customized, ultra-high-density connectivity products.
While the industry faces competitive pressures and global supply chain complexities, the shift toward US-based AI infrastructure build-outs offers substantial growth opportunities for established players with large-scale production capabilities and advanced fiber optic portfolios.
Management Perspective
Under this agreement, STL, through its optical solutions, will support building AI data center infrastructure in the US for this hyperscaler. We are enabling connectivity backbone for the AI data centers.
